The journey of Cookie Jar Golf started in January 2020. We started off as a podcast and then we quickly stumbled upon the Covid-19 pandemic. With nothing to do for months on end, we turned our attention to filming and photographing golf courses. We quickly developed a niche of story telling within golf that focussed on the golf clubs and not the personalities playing the golf.
We started with YouTube films. The first film we made was Solloth on Solway. It was a steep learning curve in how to film on a golf course, stay out of the way and try to tell the story from the clubs history. The second film we made was Woking. The historic story of the 4th hole and the involvement of John Lowe and Stuart Patton quickly ignited a passion for golf course architecture in us all. We were then approach by Royal Liverpool to do a similar film about their course ay Holyoke and it felt like we had hit the jackpot. Royal Liverpool, with all its history and traditions was a fabulous place to film and to capture.
On one of our many travels, we visited Northern Ireland to visit Royal County Down and Royal Portrush. Upon finishing our round at Royal portrush we had a drink with the assistant pro and had a chat about their media needs. After a few Guinness’ we came up with a hair-brained idea that we could help out Royal portrush with their social media for free for three months and if they liked what we produced, they would look to engage with us over a longer period. That was over three years ago and we’re proud to say that not only were Royal portrush our first client, but we still work closely with the club to this day.
Since then we have developed a marketing and media business that has many retained clients and does stand alone media work with some of the finest clubs and brands in golf.
