''The Crump Cup of British Indoor Golf'' as it was affectionately dubbed! 70 people all flocked to Urban Golf in Smithfield, London to spend the evening spreading some festive cheer, a few holes on the sims and a few cold ones! A massive thank you to Urban Golf for laying the event on for everyone. The competition mirrored the format of a mid-am! A full match report can be found on our blog section of our website (linked below) - essentially a 3 hole qualification stroke play round to determine 8 quarter finalists who battled it out on the old course... with one club only! The 12 Hole Original Open Championship Course at Prestwick

On the 17th October 1860, the first Open Championship was played. A 12 hole routing was in place at Prestwick in the early years thanks to old Tom Morris who moved to Ayrshire following his split from Allan Robertson in St Andrews. Willie Park Snr went on to win that first Open. The 12 hole routing as you will see is significantly different to the stereotypical 'out and back' links that many of the earliest clubs adopted. Holes of various lengths and shapes criss-cross around the course at Prestwick, with enormous amount of drama and challenge. Prestwick have put in a huge amount of work to reestablish this course over the last 12 months as part of the 150th Open Championship celebrations in Scotland, with particular thanks to Dave Edmundson - course manager at Prestwick. Whilst the 12 hole routing will only be in play for a couple of weeks, [...]

Story of a Golf Club: Royal St. George’s – 1922 Open Championship

A slight twist on our usual films, we wanted to share the story of the 1922 Open Championship at Royal St. George's. The Hagen win in 1922 ushered in a new era of American dominance in the professional game, with a gritty performance over his English and Scottish counterparts. Credit due to Tom Clavin's book 'Sir Walter, The flamboyant life of Walter Hagen', and in there he brilliantly describes the events as they unfolded with Bernard Darwin reporting from the fairways. Royal St. George's is a club steeped in history and one of the most significant clubs in the British Isle's - more can be found out about the club and history, as well as the evolution of the links here. https://youtu.be/_KriFILNaQI
